Celebrating PRIDE by remembering some of my Roll Models

I’m remembering the late founders of 3ELove this Disability Pride Month. Annie and Stevie Hopkins loved life and lived by the credo that we should all be accepted and allowed to live life to its fullest, no matter what we look like, no matter what we can or cannot do. I’ve always embraced the social model of disability and have supported the mission of 3ELove from the very beginning.

I don’t know what will happen to 3ELove, the business that provided much of the incredible merchandize I purchased for reader gifts now that Stevie, too, has passed, but I believe in my heart that Annie and Stevie would want us to pick up the torch and keep spreading their message of love and acceptance. I intend to do that. Through my writing, through the social content I share.

As an author, I strive to spread acceptance of diverse characters, by responsibly contributing to the disability narrative and celebrating Disability Culture. I share 3ELove’s mission through the author events I participate in.

As an individual, I embrace #DisabilityPride and I strive to live by the 3E’s.

Embrace Diversity.

Educate the unaware.

Empower people of all abilities.

Love Life!

“It’s not our differences that divide us. It’s our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences.” ~Audre Lorde
